Their new work keeps their old sound, featured on their 2022 My Will Is Not My Own LP, but presents it in a lighter (yet still gothic) tone while maintaining the “darkwave,” atmosphere they cultivate so well.

“Far From Me,” keeps the speedball rolling following their last single, “Coke,” and leans heavily into the brighter mainstream 80’s sound of heavy reverb-, most noticeably on the overt percussion and vocals.

Other artists who attempt the bold feat of amping up certain sounds over others often flop due to poor production. “Far From Me,” sticks the landing with echoey guitar, deep bass and airy keyboard that coalesce into one soundscape layered under the drums and vocals.

On paper, the song’s lyrics about realizing you need a distant partner read as corny. However, when delivered over the ethereal instrumentation, exceptional baritone vocals, timing and right amount of reverb, Give My Remains to Broadway adds the finishing touch to an already engaging piece.

“Far From Me,” is not anything too mind-blowing or inventive, but nonetheless the band produced the sound they sought superbly with surgical precision on the mixing board.

8/10

Lucas Bustinski For The B-Side

[10,9
184,129,125,124,183,22,185
213
post-2672","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-newsfeed","category-reviews","tag-canadian-music","tag-new-music","tag-new-release","tag-new-singles","tag-post-punk","tag-toronto","tag-up-and-coming
["GET
