With Toronto nu-metal group’s latest single with tough vocals and a killer riff, we can’t “steer clear”
Toronto’s rising nu-metal revivalists, Klokwise, are back with a bang with “Bustin’ Out,” the single off their latest album, Klok In. If “DGAF,” the band’s earlier release, was their rebellious anthem, “Bustin’ Out,” turns things up a notch, bursting at the seams with energy and unapologetic attitude. Reworking well-worn tropes of nu-metal with a hardcore edge, Klokwise is proving that this genre still has plenty to say.
From the first riff, “Bustin’ Out,” makes it clear that the band is here to break down boundaries. Vocalist Jesse Turnbull leads with a fierce command, belting out vocals bouncing with grit and power. The track’s thick riffs and razor-sharp drums carry that nostalgic early 2000s crunch, keeping the intensity high and bringing out the grit and weight of Klokwise’s signature sound.
Lyrically, “Bustin’ Out,” doesn’t mince words, delivering messages of liberation, defiance and self-empowerment. Klokwise continues to build on their values of inclusivity and rebellion, inviting anyone willing to step into the pit and go wild. The chorus demands you join in– “Break out! No fear! Can’t push us out!” calling listeners to stand their ground and act in total defiance. If you’re listening live, you just might just find yourself shouting along. It’s music made for mosh pits, designed to convert even the most skeptical head-bobber into a full-fledged fan.
After completing a stretch of shows last summer, the band is stepping into their sound, cementing their place in Ontario’s hardcore scene. With Klok In, Klokwise shows they’re not just keeping the nu-metal flame alive but giving it new fuel and reimagining it for a new generation of fans who are ready to shout, stomp, and, yes, bust out.
